Summary: Plans, organizes, and directs work of one or more survey parties engaged in surveying earth's surface to determine precise location and measurements of points, elevations, lines, areas, and contours for construction, map making, land division, titles, mining or other purposes by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Researches previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records to obtain data needed for surveys.

  • Develops new data from photogrammetric records.

  • Determines methods and procedures for establishing or reestablishing survey control.

  • Keeps accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performed.

  • Coordinates findings with work of engineering and architectural personnel, clients, and others concerned with project.

  • Assumes legal responsibility for work.

  • Construction Staking

Qualifications: To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies and qualifications:

  • Cost Consciousness - Works within approved budget; Conserves organizational resources.

  • Adaptability - Adapts to changes in the work environment; Manages competing demands.

  • Have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software, CAD design software and surveying software

  • Registered and licensed as a professional surveyor in the State of Colorado.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places.

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit.
